Today, April 2nd, is World Autism Acceptance Day!

Acceptance means not only being aware of autism, but recognizing the dignity, rights and value of folks with autism by working toward a barrier-free world for all.
Wishing a very happy Passover to those celebrating in Sackville and across Nova Scotia!
It's Trans Day of Visibility - a moment to reflect on the many contributions made to our communities by transgender folks! Today is also an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to eliminating transphobia in all its forms and breaking down barriers to participation everywhere.
If folks wonder whether the sound of Nova Scotians’ voices raised in protest can be heard by those making decisions inside the Legislature?

YOU ARE LOUD AND CLEAR❤️🔥🏆.

During a week where the People’s House has been closed to the people in part because people sang their dissent during House business, chants, cheers, and songs are ringing out while folks outside make it clear this budget was built without listening, consulting, taking into account the perspectives of those it will impact or any intelligent homework to determine the business case that justifies a change.

It’s clear you reject a budget that protects the Premier and his well heeled friends, big money and PC Loyal™️ while putting more burden on real Nova Scotians and those among us least able to absorb sudden shocks that don’t fix our massive deficit.

Your strength and courage are fuel to me and my @novascotiandp colleagues as we push inside the House for smart pauses on legislation and budgeting that clearly missed the mark on meeting your needs.

Thank you for showing up- over and over- to fight for a province where everyone can thrive. We’ll keep doing the same!
Today is Purple Day, and I encourage you all to wear some purple to help raise awareness for epilepsy!
Get out your flashiest socks to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Day today!

This year's theme is Together Against Loneliness, an encouragement to support those with Down syndrome by being a supporter, a friend, and an advocate.
To those celebrating Nowruz, I wish you much happiness and prosperity in the months to come!
Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate!
Some customers are still experiencing outages in Lower Sackville - we're told that work is underway right now to restore power!

This work is being conducted in backlots where yesterday's wind brought trees down onto powerlines.
Tax season is coming -

For those with modest incomes and a straightforward tax situation, you can visit a CRA clinic and have your taxes completed free of charge! The CRA has scheduled two clinics in the HRM, and the nearest to Sackville will be held at 61 Dundas Street, Dartmouth, from 10am to 2:30pm on Tuesday, March 24th.

Students are citizens, and they have rights and voices.

Today, students in Sackville and many other communities are speaking out about the impacts Premier Houston’s budget will have on them, their learning and lives, their families and friends, and the communities they call home.

Youth aren’t just the future. They are an integral part of our present.

They are leaders in community. They are workers and entrepreneurs contributing to the economy and mutual prosperity. They are champions for justice, equity, climate action, and a better world. There is no community in Nova Scotia that isn’t enhanced by the lives and impact of youth. Their voices deserve to be heard by our elected officials.

The youth of Sackville are a credit to our community. In exercising their right to protest, I know they will be respectful of people and property as they make their concerns known to the government.

As MLA for Sackville-Cobequid, I am committed to listening to our youth and their concerns about the proposed budget. I will bring their perspective into debate to ensure Premier Houston and his government are crystal clear about how their choices will impact young people in our community.
